Is This Something Forefront Can Handle?

Across the Denver metro, most of our water calls come back to the same handful of causes. Some are ordinary. Some are contaminated. We handle all of it.

Sewage and sewer-line backups

Older Denver homes sit on aging sewer laterals, and tree roots can back a line up into a finished basement fast. It’s a contaminated, Category 3 loss, and the one you should never clean up yourself.

Supply line breaks

The little lines feeding your fridge, dishwasher, toilet, or a sink. Easy to forget about until one fails and runs for hours.

Frozen and burst pipes

A hard cold snap, a pipe in an exterior wall or an unheated space, and a crack that lets go when things thaw.

Sump pump failures

The pump that keeps your basement dry quits, often during a storm outage, and the pit overflows across the floor. What to do when a sump pump fails →

Sewer main and drain overflows

A blocked main can push gray or black water back up through the lowest drains in the house. Common in the metro’s older housing stock.

"I don't know where it's coming from"

A soft spot in the floor, a stain on the ceiling, a musty smell with no obvious source. Something’s wet and you can’t find why.
If you’re looking at one of these right now, you don’t have to sort out the cause before you call. We can often help you narrow it down over the phone. (303) 660-6216

Sewage Backups Are a Different Kind of Emergency

Denver’s older neighborhoods sit on aging sewer mains, and tree roots working into a lateral line can back a system up into a finished basement fast. A clean-water break is one problem. A sewage backup is a contaminated one, which we call a Category 3 loss, and it isn’t a cleanup to take on yourself.
Whether you can handle it yourself really comes down to what the sewage touched. On a hard, non-porous surface like sealed tile or concrete, a careful cleanup with the right disinfectant can be enough. Porous materials are where it gets serious: carpet, pad, hardwood, and drywall soak sewage up and hold the contamination, and once it’s in there, cleaning the surface doesn’t make it safe. That’s when an inspection is worth it. We’ll tell you what has to come out and what can be saved, contain the area so it doesn’t spread into clean parts of the house, and confirm the space is actually safe before anything gets rebuilt. If you’re standing over a backed-up drain in a Denver basement right now, don’t wade in. Call us and we’ll walk you through what to do next.

What water mitigation costs, and why

What is this going to cost? It’s a fair question, and often the first one. Not every water loss needs professional mitigation. Sometimes the cleanup you did is the whole story. When drying is the right call, a small water mitigation project ranges from about $1,000 to $3,000, and cost climbs with the size and complexity of the loss.
Where does that money go? Restoration technicians are more than day laborers. Ours are trained in psychrometrics and IICRC standards, they know how to handle mold and sewage, and they’re on call through the night. That expertise protects your health and your structure. Coaxing water out of stubborn materials also takes time, and time adds cost. Some materials we can dry in place; others bind the water in a way that means removal is the better path.
Time works the other direction too. The longer wet materials sit, the more likely damage is to increase: adhesives failing, wood floors buckling further, mold beginning to grow.
This isn’t what you planned for today, and it’s something we walk people through all the time. A Free Damage Assessment gives you a real estimate for your situation, often over the phone or from a few photos, with no cost and no obligation. Call (303) 660-6216.

Extract, Dry, & Rebuild

We get there and stabilize first, extracting standing water and setting drying equipment so the damage stops spreading. On a contaminated loss we contain the area, remove and dispose of the materials that can’t be saved, and disinfect. We map the moisture with meters so we know how far the water actually traveled, not just where it’s visible.
Then we dry the structure properly and track it with moisture readings until everything hits its dry standard. If there’s rebuilding to do, the same company that dried your home puts it back together. No handing you off to a separate contractor, no re-explaining your situation to someone new.

Is a Claim the Best Option for Me?

Not every water problem belongs on an insurance claim, and sewage is where it gets tricky. Many standard homeowners policies don’t cover sewer or drain backup unless you carry a specific backup endorsement, and a lot of homeowners don’t know whether they have it until they need it.
We’ve spent two decades working with insurance agents and adjusters. Before you file, a Free Damage Assessment gives you a real read on the scope and what it’s likely to cost, and we’ll tell you honestly what we think your coverage is likely to do. If you do file, we handle the documentation and coordinate with your adjuster.

When You Can Handle It, and When to Call

If a small amount of clean water sat on a hard surface and you can dry it fully within a few hours with a wet vac and fans, you may be fine on your own. Anything involving sewage or contaminated water is not a DIY job, full stop.
When you’re not sure which side of that line you’re on, call us. We can often tell from a few photos or a quick conversation. (303) 660-6216

Call us, don't DIY it, when:

  • The water is or might be sewage or gray water
  • Water reached carpet, pad, drywall, or baseboards
  • It came up through a floor drain or backed up from a toilet
  • It sat for more than a few hours before you found it
  • You've dried what you can but still smell or feel dampness days later

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. A sewage backup is a contaminated, Category 3 loss, so it needs containment, removal of the porous materials that can’t be saved, disinfection, and proper disposal, more than extraction alone. We handle all of it, and we confirm the space is actually safe before anything gets rebuilt.
Often not by default. Many standard homeowners policies exclude sewer and drain backup unless you’ve added a specific backup endorsement, and it’s not covered by flood insurance either. It’s worth checking your policy. Either way, we can assess the damage and help you understand what you’re likely dealing with before you file.
For active water emergencies, we move quickly to get a crew on-site for extraction and stabilization. The sooner standing water is out and drying starts, the less it spreads. We work across the metro daily. Call (303) 660-6216 and we’ll tell you what to expect.
If it’s a small amount of clean water on a hard surface, maybe. If it reached carpet, pad, or drywall, or if there’s any chance it’s contaminated, household fans and a shop vac won’t cut it, and they tend to miss the moisture trapped where you can’t see it. We can help you figure out which situation you’re in before it turns into a bigger problem.
